Total thyoidectomy with APOLLO Smart Retractor for Open Access XS

25.10.2021

Austria's thyroidectomy specialist, Univ. Prof. Dr. med. Rupert Prommegger from Sanatorium Kettenbrücke, Innsbruck, Austria tested the use of APOLLO Smart Retractor for Open Access XS in the course of a thyroidectomy highly successfully.

The 65-year-old patient had already received a coronary stent in 2008 and had a suspicious lesion on the left side of the bilateral struma multinodosa. Considering atherosclerosis of the carotids, thyroidectomy was performed under T-ASS. The intraoperative and perioperative course was without complications.

Histology: subacute thyroiditis De Quervain, no malignancy.

Due to the perfect illumination of the APOLLO, it was possible to dispense with the operating room ceiling light during the entire operation.

Dr. Prommegger describes the use of APOLLO as:
"This tool is another meaningful step which makes thyroidectomy faster, safer and also more comfortable for the surgeon."

We congratulate Univ. Prof. Dr. med. Rupert Prommegger on the successful piornation and the successful surgery.
